About GML General Marine Leasing

General Marine Leasing operates in both the offshore and land-based oil, gas, and industrial service industries and provides a broad range of workforce accommodation products and services to our customers. General Marine Leasing specializes in the design, fabrication, staffing, and management of Workforce Accommodations, Catering, Logistics, Modular Building Construction, and Support/Auxiliary Equipment. We provide complete design, manufacture, and installation, operation, and redeployment logistics services for a variety of individual client needs and specifications. GML has provided these types of services and products for migrant farm workers; land-based drilling camps, emergency response, and resort housing. These include, but are not limited to: portable modular buildings, including housing, galleys, recreational units, and offices. The General Marine Leasing designers work closely with our clients to design layouts and build structures that best serve their needs.

Timeline of Events in GML history.

  • 1991 General Marine Leasing was established, entering into the offshore workforce accommodations market.
  • 1995 General Marine Leasing built the first United States Coast Approved Sleeper
  • 1996 General Marine Leasing was awarded and completed its first deepwater offshore project—Shell Mars Project.
  • 1997 General Marine Leasing begins engineering and fabricating smaller, more versatile portable workforce accommodation units such as the 10′ x 32′ 10′ x 24′ sized units.
  • 1999 Initiated its first emergency response, building Disney’s Castaway Bay, in the Bahamas after Hurricane Floyd.
  • 2001 GML provided emergency response members with portable workforce accommodations in Arkansas after the Arkansas Ice Storms.
  • 2001 General Marine Leasing was acquired by Oil States International, becoming one of the seven subsidiaries now.
  • 2005 General Marine Leasing reacts to needs of oil and gas exploration companies after devastation left by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita
  • 2007 General Marine Leasing introduces its new line of “Blast Resistant Modules” for personnel and equipment in Petrochemical and Refining Facilities
  • 2009 General Marine Leasing expands operations into Mexico to better serve its customer base operating in the Latin American market.

Facility Location description and capabilities

General Marine Leasing has over 40 years of experience in designing and fabricating portable and land-based buildings for offshore services on platforms, drilling rigs, vessels and jack up boats. General Marine Leasing has been working closely with ABS/USCG over last ten years on designing and building buildings to meet all the codes and regulations for US and international waters.

The General Marine Leasing design and fabrication facility, located at 2317 Engineers Road Belle Chasse, LA 70037, provides a conveniently located 300 ft bulkhead on the Intracoastal Canal water system that connects directly to the Mississippi River.
